March 2009

Visit the market on 7th March and take something deliciously tasty home for tea.

Not sure what to buy?  Then just ask the stallholders.  They love to chat to customers and are happy to answer any questions you have about the produce and they'll  even give you recipe ideas.

If your thoughts have turned to the garden now that  Spring has arrived you must visit new stallholder, Jackie Mason.  Jackie's stall will be down at the foot of King Edward Street opposite the City Hall  and she will be bringing along an interesting selection of evergreen plants including hebes and rhododendrons.

The cooking demonstration will be given this month by Thomas Helyer from Kinnaird.

Thomas is one of the youngest members of the team at Kinnaird.  Brimming with enthusiasm and knowledge, Thomas has been selected to participate in the Farmers Market due to his passionate love and knowledge of farm fresh ingredients and his background from the farming communities of Blairgowrie.  Thomas will bring all that he has learnt from  Head Chef Jean-Baptiste, who has just won the Scottish Hotel Award for Head Chef of The Year 2009.Kinnaird is a Relais and Châteaux hotel, nestled under a pine covered crag in a private 7,000 acre sporting estate with 5 miles of private fishing beats in the beautiful landscape of Perthshire, Scotland.

This 18th Century Manor House has played host to distinguished guests, Kings and Queens to family house parties.  Mrs Constance Cluett Ward and her daughters have continued that tradition of hospitality since opening the doors to the public in 1990. Although Kinnaird is a hotel, each guest experiences the authenticity of a traditional Scottish estate and luxury family home. With 8 bedrooms and 1 suite in the main house uniquely decorated by Mrs. Ward, two Courtyard Cottages and additional accommodation in the Estate Cottages, your comfort is guaranteed whatever your tastes.Partake in some of Scotland’s finest Salmon fishing on the River Tay; Explore the estate on our many walks and nature trails; enjoy a picnic and the scenic views at your choice of location; Indulge in a massage or beauty treatment at The Retreat; Relax with the evocative aroma of the log fire in the Cedar Room; Indulge in a glass of champagne in anticipation of an  award winning dinner prepared with Perthshire’s finest ingredients as well as produce from our Victorian Walled Garden.
