Visit Perth Farmers' market throughout the winter months and pick up some delicious fresh local produce. When the weather turns chilly there's nothing better than a bowl of homemade soup with crusty bread or a hearty stew to warm you up. At the market you'll find all the ingredients you need to make a truely wholesome meal.
Why not pick up a pumpkin this month? There are so many interesting ways to cook it and it's delicious in both savoury and sweet dishes: soup, pickles, tarts or scones. Taking part in our cookery demonstration in November are Graeme Pallister from 63 Tay Street and Gavin Thompson from Parklands Hotel. The twosome will be cooking up some tasty treats giving you the opportunity to sample dishes made from ingredients available to buy at the market. Fife Free Range Chickens are back for their second market. They raise the finest quality corn fed chickens the old fashioned way and dedicate their time and expertise to produce an exceptional bird of unbeatable quality. Their birds are fed corn from the first day of their life and whilst free ranging enjoy access to acres of lush grass and clover thus producing an exceptionally tasty and attractive yellow bird. The Carse of Gowrie Orchards will be with us again with their apple press so if you didn't get a chance at the last market then you can enjoy some of their delicious apple juice this month. Pick up your free recipe cards at the Information Point and purchase a Farmers' Market cotton bag or apron. Come and chat to the stallholders, they love talking about their produce and you can get some great recipe ideas and food tips. Why not make a day of it?
