Tabla - Fish Curry

Authentic Indian Restaurant

Fish Curry

Serves 4

For the marinade:

  • 1 kg Scottish salmon
  • 10 gms finely chopped fresh ginger
  • 10 gms garlic paste
  • Salt
  • ½ tsp curry powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • ¼ tsp garam masala
  • ¼ tsp chilli powder
  • 1 tbls rapeseed oil

Mix together and apply to the salmon. Let it rest for 30 minutes.

To cook:

  • 100 gms onion
  • 2 fresh red chillies
  • 5 gms fresh ginger
  • 5 gms garlic paste.
  • ¼ tsp cumin seeds
  • ¼ tsp coriander seeds.
  • ¼ tsp mustard seeds
  • 200 gms chopped tomatoes
  • ¼ tsp chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp garam masala
  • ½ tsp curry powder.
  • 20 gms fresh tamarind
  • 1 tbls rapeseed oil

Finely chop the onion, and chillies. Add the ginger and garlic paste. Gently fry these in rapeseed oil in a large pan along with the cumin, mustard and coriander seeds.

  • Add the chopped tomatoes, stir and cook for 5 minutes
  • Add the chilli powder, garam masala, curry powder and tamarind
  • Add the marinated fish and leave to simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Add coriander leaf if desired.
